Five businesses shortlisted in Amy's hospitality awards

Amy Callaghan MP has today announced the shortlist for her 2023 East Dunbartonshire Hospitality Awards.

Last year’s winners, Helmi’s, have again made the final five, and are joined by Billington’s of Lenzie, Café Alba, The Greenhouse Café, and Paul and Maci's. Over 500 members of the public nominated nearly fifty businesses across East Dunbartonshire.

Ms Callaghan said she was “delighted” by the support shown by the community for the local hospitality sector. She is now encouraging locals to visit her website and vote for their favourite business from the shortlist before 1st September, with the winner announced shortly after the vote closes.

Ms Callaghan plans to visit each shortlisted business before the voting closes, and for every visit she has pledged to donate a bag of food to East Dunbartonshire Foodbank.

Commenting, Amy Callaghan MP said: “It was great to see so many people get involved in the nominations this year, and I want to congratulate not just the five shortlisted businesses, but the nearly fifty that were nominated across East Dunbartonshire.

“It is once again testament to the fantastic hospitality sector we have locally.

“We’re down to the final five, so please pop across to my website and help choose the winner of the 2023 East Dunbartonshire Hospitality Awards.

“This year’s awards are about shining a spotlight on our local businesses, and encouraging people to try cafes, restaurants, or bars that might be new to them. It’s also about coming together as a community and supporting people who can’t eat out due to the cost of living crisis.

“That’s why, like last year, I’m donating a bag of food to East Dunbartonshire Foodbank for every business I visit. It’s also why I’m promoting Unite the Union’s Hospitality Charter, so that hospitality staff get a fair deal from their employers.

“I can’t wait to see who you select as the winner this year. Happy voting!”
